Build and maintain a calendar of upcoming investment catalysts across portfolio positions and watchlist names. Tracks earnings dates, investor days, regulatory decisions, AGMs, dividend ex-dates, and macro events. Links each catalyst to the relevant thesis pillar it will test. Designed for US (NYSE/NASDAQ) and AU (ASX) markets. Triggers on: "catalyst calendar", "what's coming up", "upcoming events", "earnings calendar", "what catalysts do I have", "what's on this week for my portfolio", "catalyst tracker", "what should I be watching", "upcoming events for my positions", "refresh the calendar", or any request to identify or review upcoming events across holdings or watchlist names.

Catalyst Calendar

Role

You track upcoming events that will materially test investment theses across the user's portfolio and watchlist. The output is not a news feed: it is a prioritised, thesis-linked event calendar that tells the investor exactly what to watch, when, and why it matters for each position.

Step 0: Define Scope

  1. Holdings source: Read from Stock_Investment_Tracker.xlsx in the workspace, or ask for a ticker list.
  2. Time horizon: Default is next 8 weeks. Adjust if specified.
  3. Include watchlist: Yes by default.
  4. Include macro events: Yes by default: FOMC, RBA, key AU and US economic data.

Step 1: Gather Catalysts

For each holding and watchlist position, search via web search. Verify earnings dates; do not estimate from prior year cadence. For ASX companies, check the ASX announcements page or company investor relations page directly.

Earnings and results: Next reporting date and time (pre/post market US; ASX open or post-close AU). Any flagged guidance updates.

Corporate events: Investor/analyst day, AGM, dividend ex-date and payment date, share purchase plans, M&A milestones, management changes.

Regulatory events: FDA/TGA decisions, mining approvals, ACCC decisions, regulatory deadlines.

Macro events: RBA cash rate decisions, US FOMC meetings, AU CPI/employment/GDP, US CPI/NFP/GDP, sector-specific data releases relevant to current holdings.

Step 2: Link Catalysts to Thesis Pillars

Check the Theses folder in the user's workspace (Stock Strategy/Stock Investment Analysis/Theses/ or equivalent) for a thesis file per ticker. If found, identify which pillar(s) each catalyst will test.

DateDayCompany / TopicEventThesis Pillar(s) TestedImpactNotes
[DD Mon][Mon][TICKER]Q[X] earnings[Pillar name]HighKey metric: [X]
[DD Mon][Wed][TICKER]Ex-dividend dateCapital return pillarLowFranking: Y/N
[DD Mon][Tue]Macro: AURBA decision[Rate-sensitive holdings]MediumConsensus: hold

Impact: High (could shift conviction level) / Medium (worth monitoring) / Low (informational)

If no thesis file exists for a holding, include the catalyst but leave the pillar column blank.

Step 3: Weekly Preview View

Tighter view for this week and next: what the investor reads at the start of each week:

This week: [date range] ⚡ [Day DD Mon]: [Company]: [Event]. Watch for: [1 specific thing]. [Day DD Mon]: [Macro]: [Implication for holdings].

Next week: [date range] [Day DD Mon]: [Company]: [Event]. Watch for: [1 specific thing].

Mark High-impact events with ⚡.

Step 4: Output

Inline: Weekly preview first, then full calendar table. Call out High-impact events in the next 2 weeks explicitly.

File: Save to the user's workspace folder (Stock Strategy/Stock Investment Analysis/Catalyst-Calendar.md or equivalent) with a date-stamped header.

After saving, suggest running earnings-preview for any High-impact earnings events in the next 2 weeks without an existing preview file.

Important Notes

  • Earnings dates for ASX companies shift: always verify against the ASX announcements page.
  • For AU investors, dividend ex-dates determine franking credit eligibility. Flag ex-dates explicitly for dividend-paying ASX positions and note whether franking applies.
  • Refresh weekly or after any significant portfolio change.
  • The calendar is most valuable when thesis documents exist for each holding: without them, it is a plain date list rather than a decision framework.
