earnings-analysis
What happened, vs. what was expected, and what it means - sourced and balanced.
Process
- Headline results (sourced): revenue, EPS, key segments vs. consensus and vs. prior year. Beat/miss + magnitude.
- Drivers: what moved the numbers (volume/price/mix, margins, one-offs). Separate recurring from one-time.
- Guidance: new/updated outlook vs. prior and vs. consensus - raised/cut/maintained; the assumptions behind it.
- Call read: management tone, Q&A focus, what they emphasized vs. dodged - clearly your interpretation, not fact.
- So what: thesis impact (bull and bear), key risks/catalysts, what to watch next quarter.
Output
- A recap: results vs. expectations table (sourced), drivers, guidance read, call takeaways, and the balanced "so what." Guidance/forward items labeled as estimates.
Guardrails
- Actuals from the release/transcript (
citation-guard); consensus sourced; don't fabricate a number to fill a cell. - Separate fact from interpretation (
analysis-objectivity); present both sides. Add a disclaimer if you draw a recommendation.
