Market research
Gather and structure market and competitor data — market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM), primary vs secondary sources, and source credibility. Use when researching a market, sizing an opportunity, or building a competitor profile. From its SKILL.md

2 things to look at
- 26 days oldThe repository was created 26 days ago. New is not bad, but a brand new repository carrying a familiar-sounding name is the shape a typosquat arrives in, and there has been no time for anyone else to find a problem with it.
- 0 stars0 stars. Stars are a popularity signal and not a quality one, but at this level it is likely that nobody has read this closely except its author, and you would be relying on your own review.

Market research
The evidence-gathering leg of competitive-intel. Feeds analytical-frameworks.
Market sizing: TAM / SAM / SOM
- TAM total addressable market · SAM serviceable (your segment/geo) · SOM obtainable (realistic near-term share).
- Use two methods and reconcile them: top-down (industry figure → filter to your slice) and bottom-up (units × price × adoption). Bottom-up is usually more defensible; top-down is the sanity check. If they disagree wildly, your assumptions are the story.
Sources
- Secondary (fast, second-hand, can be dated): filings/10-Ks, analyst reports, pricing pages, job postings (signal tech + expansion), review sites, patents, product docs, press.
- Primary (slower, original signal): customer/expert interviews, surveys, your own product/usage data.
Source credibility — weigh every source
- Who produced it and why? Vendor-sponsored ≠ neutral. How recent? Is the sample/methodology sound?
- Triangulate: one source is a lead; two independent sources is a finding.
Competitor profile
Build the standard profile (positioning, pricing, segment, GTM, strengths/weaknesses, recent moves,
signals) — see reference.md.
