MEDDPICC Qualification Framework

Score each deal (1-5) across:

  • Metrics: quantified business impact identified? (cost savings, revenue gain)
  • Economic Buyer: have you met the person who controls the budget?
  • Decision Criteria: do you know exactly what they'll evaluate?
  • Decision Process: do you know each step and who approves at each?
  • Paper Process: do you know legal, procurement, security review timeline?
  • Identify Pain: is the pain explicit, urgent, and agreed by champion?
  • Champion: does someone internally advocate for you when you're not in the room?
  • Competition: do you know who else is being evaluated and your differentiation?

Score < 25: high risk, needs qualification work before investing time Score 25-35: active pursuit but gaps to fill Score > 35: well-qualified, focus on execution

Discovery Call Framework

Opening (5 min)

Set the agenda, confirm time, establish authority to explore.

Business Context (10 min)

  • What are their top 3 priorities this year?
  • How does [your problem area] fit into those priorities?
  • What happens if nothing changes?

Pain Exploration (15 min)

  • Walk me through how you currently handle [problem area]
  • What's the biggest challenge with that approach?
  • What has that cost you? (quantify: time, money, headcount)
  • How long has this been a problem?

Vision (10 min)

  • What would an ideal solution look like?
  • If we could solve X, what would that enable for you?

Process + Timeline (10 min)

  • Who else is involved in decisions like this?
  • What does your evaluation process look like?
  • When would you want to have a solution in place?

Business Case Template

Projected benefit: $[Y] per [year/quarter]
Implementation cost: $[Z] one-time
Net ROI: [X years to payback], [Y]% 3-year ROI

Negotiation Playbook

Price Objections

  1. Understand the objection: budget constraint or value concern?
  2. If value: reanchor to ROI (compare to cost of problem, not product price)
  3. If budget: offer payment structure, phased rollout, smaller initial scope
  4. Never discount without getting something: accelerated timeline, case study, referral, multi-year

Walk-Away Points (define before negotiating)

  • Minimum price
  • Minimum contract term
  • Non-negotiable contract terms (liability cap, IP, data rights)
