SBP Brand — Full Spec

Apply these guidelines when building any UI, HTML component, slide, document, or design asset for Schuberg Philis.

For the full human-readable brand reference, see brandbook.schubergphilis.com.

How to use this skill

When building visual artifacts (slides, mocks, throwaway prototypes), copy the bundled assets out and produce static HTML the user can open in a browser. When working in production code, copy the assets and apply the rules below to design on-brand. If invoked without specific guidance, ask what the user wants to build, then act as an expert SBP designer producing HTML artifacts or production code.

Bundled resources

File / dirUse
README.mdHuman-readable brand reference and design rationale
colors_and_type.cssImport-ready color tokens + typography variables (@font-face + CSS custom properties)
fonts/TT Interphases web fonts (WOFF2 subset). Full family: see fonts/README.md
assets/Logos (new system) + stylization shapes (slash/square/corner/button)
slides/Six HTML slide templates (cover, divider, four-cards, quote, matrix, process)
preview/Design-system reference cards (colors, type, spacing, components)

Import the CSS for instant on-brand tokens:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="colors_and_type.css">

Variables exposed: --font-primary, --font-mono, and the color tokens below.

Colors

Primary palette:

ColorHexCSS variable
SBP Blue (primary)#1E80ED--sbp-blue
Soft Blue#E8F2FD--soft-blue
Tropical Turquoise#1EE8ED--tropical-turquoise
Midnight Dark#020C17--midnight-dark
Space Gray#082646--space-gray
Joyful Yellow#FFDB4E--joyful-yellow
White#FFFFFF--white

Secondary palette: Orange #FF7000, Green #2AC0A1, Violet #6D5FF7, Magenta #FF0089

Signal colors only (not for general design): True Green (positive), False Red (negative) — hex values from SBP marketing team.

CSS custom properties:

:root {
  --sbp-blue: #1E80ED;
  --soft-blue: #E8F2FD;
  --tropical-turquoise: #1EE8ED;
  --midnight-dark: #020C17;
  --space-gray: #082646;
  --joyful-yellow: #FFDB4E;
  --white: #FFFFFF;
  --orange: #FF7000;
  --green: #2AC0A1;
  --violet: #6D5FF7;
  --magenta: #FF0089;
}

Usage: Lead with SBP Blue. Secondary colors support; never dominate. Tertiary signal colors for data/infographics only.

Typography

Font: TT Interphases (commercial). TT Interphases Mono for labels/captions only.

CRITICAL — fallback stack:

font-family: 'TT Interphases', -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
/* Mono: */
font-family: 'TT Interphases Mono', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;

Do NOT use Inter, Roboto, or any visually similar free font as a substitute.

Size scale:

ElementWeightSizeLetter spacingLine height
H1Extra Bold 8003rem-0.04em1.09
H2Extra Bold 8002.25rem-0.04em1.09
H3Bold 7001.75rem-0.04em1.09
H4Bold 7001.375rem-0.04em1.09
BodyRegular 4001rem01.5
QuoteRegular 4001.125rem01.25
CaptionMono Regular0.75rem01.375
Label/chapeauMono Regular0.6875rem01.375

Rules: Always sentence case (never ALL CAPS). Mono is a "pinch of tech" — use sparingly. Never Regular/Light for headings.

Stylization

Concept: Square (tech) + circle (human) = rounded corners on every shape.

Corner radius:

  • Landscape canvas: 10% of canvas width
  • Portrait canvas: 20% of canvas width
  • Element within layout: 10% of element's own width

Labels: Pill with 1 straight corner. One line of text. This is the signature SBP shape. Buttons/tags: Fully rounded pill. One line of text.

SVG graphic assets (bundled in assets/ — copy to project asset dir):

CategoryFilenamesUsage
SlashesSlash_ble.svg (as-is on disk), Slash_dark.svg, Slash_light.svgBrand dividers, decorative elements on matching backgrounds
Slashes (double)Slash_double-blue.svg, Slash_double-dark.svgStronger emphasis dividers
Slashes (outline)Slash_outline_blue.svg, Slash_outline_dark.svg, Slash_outline_light.svgLightweight decorative use
SquaresSquare_blue.svg, Square_dark.svg, Square_light.svg, Square_pink.svg, Square_yellow.svgContainers, backgrounds, section highlights
CornersCorner_Blue.svg, Corner_dark.svgDecorative corner accents
ButtonsButton_Blue.svg, Button_dark.svg, Button_light.svg, Button_pink.svg, Button_yellow.svgPre-styled button shapes

Match asset variant (blue/dark/light) to the background it sits on.

The marker bar

The 1.5 cm × 0.1 cm horizontal bar is the signature SBP element — it appears on every slide and marks content as Schuberg Philis. It is not decorative.

  • SBP Blue on light backgrounds; Joyful Yellow on dark backgrounds
  • Positioned between title and subhead (or between subhead and content)
  • Always 1.5 cm wide — never full-width

See preview/marker-bar.html for the reference rendering.

Logo

The current logo system has three background-matched variants, each as SVG and PNG (bundled in assets/). Match the variant to the background it sits on:

VariantFilesUse on
On whiteLogo-1-OnWhite.svg, Logo-1-OnWhite.pngWhite / light backgrounds
On SBP BlueLogo-2-OnBlue.svg, Logo-2-OnBlue.pngSBP Blue backgrounds (default brand surface)
On darkLogo-3-OnDark.svg, Logo-3-OnDark.pngSpace Gray / Midnight Dark / dark images

With payoff line (full lockup, SVG only): Logo+payoff-light.svg, Logo+payoff-blue.svg, Logo+payoff-dark.svg. Use the payoff lockup for covers, title pages, and brand-forward surfaces; the plain mark elsewhere.

Margins: 50% of logo height (nav/banners), 100% (objects), 200% (center of canvas).

Size: 25% of canvas height (landscape), 25% of canvas width (portrait/square), 20% (A4).

Rules: Default to SBP Blue. Never swap slash and text colors. Always ensure sufficient contrast.

Grids & Layouts

  • 16-column grid inside 10% margin (portrait: 10% width, landscape: 10% height)
  • Spacing: multiples of logo height — 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x
  • Gutter: 1 grid column between columns
  • Maximum 5 elements per layout (logo, image, title, text, labels)
  • One container width across all pages of a document

Slides & decks

Six ready-to-use HTML templates live in slides/ — copy and adapt them: cover-slide, chapter-divider, content-four-cards, pull-quote, matrix-2x2, process-flow.

Slide type scale (presentation sizes, distinct from the UI scale above):

ElementWeightSize
CoverBlack 90058pt
Chapter dividerBlack 90036pt
Content titleBlack 90022–26pt
Big statBlack 90036–48pt
SubheadBold 70012pt
BodyRegular 4009.5–11pt
EyebrowMono Bold10pt

Sandwich structure: decks breathe dark → light → dark. Open dark (cover), transition to light (content), return to dark (chapter dividers, statements). Light slides are ≈78% of content (White or Soft Blue); dark slides use Space Gray full-bleed. No gradients, textures, or photographs as backgrounds.

Card constructions (see preview/component-*.html):

  1. Indexed cards — Blue header strip with white number (01, 02…) + white body. Use for enumerating 2–5 items.
  2. Pale panel cards — Soft blue fill, no header strip. Use for matrices and frameworks.
  3. Decision cards — Space Gray body with yellow accents + full-width yellow recommendation bar. Use for recommendations.

Card rules: no drop shadows, no borders — cards differentiate by fill color only. Flat, layered composition.

Content & writing

  • Sentence case everywhere — titles, eyebrows, subheads, body. Never title case; never all caps (rare axis labels excepted).
  • Insight-first titles — the title carries the message, not the category. "Three options, one recommendation — with consequences named", not "Decision options".
  • Header system — every content slide: Eyebrow (context) → Title (insight) → Subhead (how to read it).
  • Yellow signals decisions only — recommendation bars, highlighted cells, the chosen option. Never passive decoration.
  • Separators — middle-hyphen with spaces in eyebrow metadata (M01.58 - Matrix - Maturity Heat); pipes with spaces in footers (Schuberg Philis | M01 FOUNDATIONS); em dashes in titles only.
  • No emoji. Third person with implied "you" — no "I"/"we".

Photography

Five principles: Real (actual SBP colleagues), Warm (light, bright, welcoming), Depth of field (human perspective, sharp subject), A touch of blue (SBP Blue present in every photo), In action (people doing real things).

Don'ts: no staged stock, no low quality, no Photoshop effects, no lens flares.

Photo assets: contact SBP marketing team.

Iconography

Two types: Flat rounded line icons (PNG/SVG, thousands available) and Custom-made icons (focus area illustrations + sbp.cloud icons). All follow 10% corner roundness.

Icon assets: contact SBP marketing team.
