Prompt Injection Detector
Scan the project's agent configuration surface — SKILL.md files, CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, MCP configs, and .claude/ agent/command definitions — for prompt injection patterns: role overrides, instruction-leakage probes, jailbreak templates, and exfiltration commands.
Complements secrets-scan (credential detection) and owasp-check (web vulnerabilities) with agent-specific attack surface coverage.
Usage
/prompt-injection-detect # Full scan of all config surfaces
/prompt-injection-detect skills # Skills directory only
/prompt-injection-detect mcp # MCP config files only
/prompt-injection-detect --strict # Include low-confidence patterns

Phase 1: Scope detection
Determine which surfaces to scan based on arguments. Default: all.

Token Optimization
Expected range: 100–300 tokens (all Bash, no model invocation)
Early exit: If targeted surface does not exist (e.g., no .mcp.json), skips that surface with a one-line note.
Caching: Writes scan summary to .claude/cache/prompt-injection-detect/last-scan.json. Does not cache file contents — patterns are always re-scanned to avoid stale security results.
Patterns used: Grep-before-Read, early exit, Bash for system queries, progressive disclosure (severity header before details).
Edge Cases
- False positives in test fixtures or documentation examples: Findings in
test/,docs/, orexamples/directories are flagged with a[FIXTURE?]annotation. Pass--no-fixturesto suppress entirely. - Binary or minified JSON: Skipped automatically by grep's binary detection.
- No
.mcp.jsonpresent: MCP phase is skipped silently.
Safety
Read-only scan — never modifies files. Does not log matched line content to any external system. All pattern matching is local grep; no network calls.
