Write the current working state to ./HANDOFF.md so a brand-new session with ZERO prior context could resume with no loss. Include:

  • the objective,
  • what's done,
  • the exact next step,
  • key files and why they matter,
  • decisions and their rationale,
  • known gotchas / dead-ends,
  • any running background jobs (with IDs),
  • open questions.

Use real paths and names. Then confirm the file was written.
