California SC-100 Form Filling Guide
General Instructions
- Always use the official SC-100 form.
- Input data should be strictly formatted as requested by the form fields.
- Dates: Use the format YYYY-MM-DD.
- Financials: Include only the numerical amount without currency symbols unless specified.
- Ensure all parties (Plaintiff, Defendant) are correctly identified based on the court jurisdiction (usually where the defendant resides).
Field Mapping Strategy
- Plaintiff's Information: Fields typically designated for Plaintiff 1.
- Defendant's Information: Fields typically designated for Defendant 1.
- Claim Details: Clearly state the cause of action, amount, and basis of the claim.
- Court Jurisdiction: Always verify the correct court filing location (e.g., where the defendant lives).
Verification
- Always re-read the form after filling it out to ensure field alignment.
- Confirm all mandatory fields for a Small Claims filing are populated.
