Conduct finance-first literature reviews and related-work synthesis. Use when the user asks for a literature review, related literature section, annotated bibliography, gap map, journal-targeted reading list, finance or macro-finance paper scan, corporate finance or asset-pricing synthesis, banking or disclosure literature summary, or adjacent economics / accounting review. Prioritize top finance journals first, then adjacent top economics and accounting journals, then clearly labeled working papers from NBER, CEPR, SSRN, and RePEc.

Finance Literature Review
Purpose
Run a disciplined finance literature review rather than a generic paper search.
The default goal is to:
- scope the question,
- prioritize venues correctly,
- verify citations,
- extract finance-relevant study attributes,
- synthesize by design and mechanism,
- produce a usable reading list and matrix.
See:
Hard Rules
- Never fabricate citations or metadata.
- Always separate published papers from working papers.
- Start with top finance journals.
- Only widen into economics or accounting when the topic genuinely overlaps.
- Capture sample, period, unit of observation, identification strategy, main result, mechanism, and limitation for each core empirical paper.
- Say explicitly when only titles or abstracts are available.
Venue Order
- Core finance journals.
- Adjacent finance journals.
- Top economics journals if needed.
- Top accounting journals if needed.
- Frontier working-paper outlets.
Use references/journal-priority.md.
Workflow
Step 1: Scope
Clarify the topic, mechanism, geography, sample period, and output type.
Step 2: Search Grid
Build a search grid with:
- concept terms,
- finance synonyms,
- method terms,
- policy or event names,
- dataset names,
- working-paper sources.
Step 3: Collect
Collect seminal published papers first, then recent papers, then frontier working papers.
Step 4: Extract
Use templates/literature-matrix.md and record:
- citation,
- venue tier,
- published or working paper,
- question,
- sample and period,
- unit,
- identification strategy,
- main finding,
- mechanism,
- limitation,
- why the paper matters.
Step 5: Synthesize
Synthesize by theme, mechanism, and design. Avoid paper-by-paper summaries unless requested.
Step 6: Deliver
Default outputs:
- scoped question,
- prioritized reading list,
- literature matrix,
- synthesis,
- gap statement,
- verified citation block.
Before finishing, check references/synthesis-checklist.md.
